Farewell Hitch! (1949–2011)

One of my heroes, Christopher Hitchens, died last night after a brutal battle with cancer.

I owe Hitch an un-payable debt for opening my eyes to reality. It was his styles of writing and speaking that shaped my militant views on religion; I would dream of being able to engage with people the way that he could.

“My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, any place, any time. And anyone who disagrees with this can pick a number, get in line and kiss my ass.”

—Christopher Hitchens

If I may be so bold as to further borrow his pen, “And don’t keep the faith.”

Sorry to hear that Mike – that sucks.

Yup, the world has lost a social and political gadfly and observer of the first order.
